Community History
Estes is the Center of the Community
Estes Elementary School is one of 18 schools in the Marana Unified School District. In 1955, it was the first elementary school in the district, originally named Marana Elementary School. It was located in buildings currently occupied by the district’s administrative offices. In July 2001, a newly constructed Marjorie W. Estes Elementary School opened its doors on the grounds adjacent to the old building. The campus facilities include an outdoor amphitheater, a multipurpose room/cafeteria, a library media center, administrative offices, eight grade-level pods, three modular buildings, a working garden, a tortoise habitat, buddy benches, gaga ball pits and an athletic field with a running track. Estes is proud to be a vital, dynamic center of the community. Our doors are open to community organizations that need space to conduct their activities. Boy Scouts have used the Estes facilities, as have local Marana churches.
