Associate Principal

Students working on class project using Oreos

As your proud Associate Principal of Estes Elementary, I would like to take a moment and share a little about myself.  My childhood experiences had a major impact on the person I am today.  My dad was in the military and my family and I traveled and moved around a lot.  I was born in Anchorage, Alaska and lived overseas for most of my childhood.  Stationed in Panama and Germany, I was exposed to many different cultures at a young age and I developed the ability to build strong relationships quickly as well as understand and appreciate diversity.  Tucson, AZ has been my home since 1992.

My educational experience includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary K-8 and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, both from the University of Arizona. This will be my 11th year working in the Marana Unified School District, and my 6th year as an Associate Principal here at Estes.  I have been a part of the MUSD community since 2006 as a parent.  My two children have attended the Quail Run Elementary Preschool Program, Ironwood Elementary, Tortolita Middle School and Mt. View High School.  As a proud parent and former teacher of the MUSD community, I couldn’t be more proud to be an administrator in our amazing district.

In my practice as an educator, I foster respect for each other’s strengths and challenges, celebrate the courage to take risks and ensure that students feel safe, loved and challenged.  I focus on making a positive impact on students’ academic achievements, building leaders and attainment to a lifelong love for learning.  I inspire and encourage students and staff to be the best they can be inside and outside of the classroom.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Martyn of 27 years, my 20 year old son Kyle and my 16 year old daughter Ryleigh.  Kyle is in college and studying to be a meteorologist and Ryleigh is a junior at Mountain View High School.  Health & fitness are extremely important to me, I like to workout at home every day and go hiking with my family on the weekends and breaks. My family is my world and when I am not at school, you will find me spending time with them.

I am beyond excited for you to be a part of the Estes’ School Community and Family. I am looking forward to a rewarding 2022-2023 school year.
