Counselor

Ms. Huizar was born and raised in Southern California and received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She also received a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University, Santa Barbara.

Ms. Huizar moved to the Tucson area in 2016, and began a career in teaching 6^th and 7^th grade Science, and 5^th and 6^th grade ELA. Ms. Huizar found a passion in being able to help students solve problems, and began a new career as a school counselor shortly after her teaching career in 2021. At Estes Elementary, she is able to put her passion to good use and continue to help students solve problems by finding the right coping skills, and help students process and handle difficult situations. Her hopes for each school year is to build a place where each student feels safe and comfortable to speak about the negatives and positives going on in their lives in order to create a successful learning environment.
