Estes Elementary is proud to be a Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center! Our school offers amazing afterschool high-quality academic intervention and enrichment activities for students along with a broad array of youth development opportunities and parent engagement at no cost.  

Our program provides opportunities for students to engage in new and exciting learning opportunities and explore their personal interests, recreational and intellectual topics that are often not available during the school day while being able to forge new relationships with friends.  

Last year, over 300 Estes Elementary School students participated in at least 30 days of 21st Century programming! Examples of classes include:

Estes Elementary is proud to announce it’s Annual Fine Arts Night in the spring.  Families are invited to stroll the campus to peruse student artwork, while experiencing vocal, instrumental, and dance performances by Estes students. This event has been a successful part of Estes community and it has proven to be truly magical night each year.

Grandperson's Day is a special day each year where Estes Elementary invites special grandpersons in the lives of students to come to school. Our special guests are welcomed to join their child for lunch. 

We appreciate the Estes PTO and Student Council for all of their hard work in putting this annual event together!

Second grade participates in an annual Northwest Fire Department Mini-Muster. This event is designed to introduce our students to fire safety in an active and fun way. Some of the events include Bucket Brigade, Follow the Hose, Dress up Like a Fireman, and a tour of a fire engine. Students rotate through these activities in groups accompanied by some very helpful and enthusiastic parent volunteers. At the end of the day, our students are happily squirted with the fire hose for a cool down.

The Estes Science Fair is usually held annually in conjunction with STEAM Night in the Spring.  Students are encouraged to participate in the experimental category demonstrating their knowledge of the scientific process.  All projects can be demonstration or experimental.

Estes Elementary students annually participate in the school Spelling Bee.  Last year fifty five students competed for the top three spots and the chance to represent our school at the district Spelling Bee. Congratulations to all students for their participation.

Estes Student Council has a goal of promoting and developing leadership, community involvement, team building, and life skills in those students who volunteer their time and energy in school activities. 

Student Council has four elected officers, two representatives from each class in grades 3 through 6, and two sponsors. Officers and representatives have monthly meetings to organize events and fundraisers that benefit the student body, community, and Estes. Events Student Council promotes are spirit days, food drives, and campus projects. Fundraising is used to generate income to purchase items that benefit the school. In May, students who want to run for a Student Council officer position receive a packet where they get signatures from their peers, parents, and teacher. They write a speech and campaign for their office. Speeches are given to grades 3 through 6, who vote on their candidate of choice.

Every May, Estes holds Field Day. This day is set aside for students to participate in water/outdoor fun. This is a great event to encourage students to stay active.  Field Day is organized and games are provided by Coach Belasco, PE Teacher.  Northwest Fire Department usually attends with their fire trucks and water hoses.
